A message from our Executive Chairman

2022, a Year in Review

The year started excitingly when we received the outstanding news of being selected as state finalists in three categories of the Telstra “Best of Business Awards”,

  • Embracing Innovation
  • Promoting Sustainability
  • Outstanding Growth

24,310 businesses entered The Telstra Best of Business Awards. 239 of these entrants were selected as state finalists across Australia and we were awarded winners of the Embracing Innovation Award amongst so many other amazing businesses. It is an honor, and we believe it is a recognition of our approach to providing world-leading, technology coupled with a 24/7 maintenance system that reduces Australia’s landfill and contributes positively to the circular economy.

“This award reflects our continuous investment in R&D".

Innovation is achieved thanks to our primary focus on evolving technology services. Our mission is to drive continuous improvement in productivity through innovative recycling technology solutions.

In November last year, we had been invited to sponsor the WA change Maker awards 2022 introduced by WARRRL. We were honored to present the award for the Medium Refund Point Operator of the year to Mr. Refund, with WARRRL CEO Tim Cusack along with our National Commercial Manager, David McGary

“We are proud of our strong relationship with our key stakeholders, which is built on a base of trust, sustainability, and collaboration.”

In line with further embracing our vision of continuous improvement, CDS commenced the design and development of a Bulk Redemption Terminal (BRT).

This was to ensure the evolving markets of receiving bulk volumes and bag drop containers could be safely, accurately, and efficiently processed. Our prototype is being commissioned in a live site in early 2023 and we are confident this market need can be fulfilled by the BRT.

In December 2022, our fleet of machines reached a processing milestone of counting over 4 million containers in a single day. At the same time, we have commissioned new sites with our partners in WA and QLD moving to semi-automation technology. This represented a 16% growth of our fleet of machines, respective to the previous years.

Today our technology is utilized by over 80,000 Australians a week and growing.

Importantly, as we continue to grow with our partners, our focus on continuous improvement is key to our culture at CDS and is implemented with the disciplines of ISO accreditations.

In Summary

During the past year, we doubled our full-time workforce and have successfully created an experienced team of service support professionals that continues to grow and aims to attend to our partner’s needs in a proactive and efficient manner.

Like Jobs said, "Great things in business are never done by one person; they're done by a team of people” and I am proud of where we are now. My thanks go to everyone within the CDS team, and the Governing bodies, and a special thanks to all our partners at the recycling depots who contributed to such an outstanding year.

CDS will continue to focus on further technological solutions in 2023 ensuring the success of both our existing and future partners.

Thank you all,
